Amongst other discoveries, the pandemic made us realize how outdoor space plays an important part in our daily lives. Here in Connecticut, we certainly can take advantage of the outdoor space for the better part of the year.
Outdoor space is an extension of our home. It provides a sanctuary of relaxation in our busy lives. When you have your morning coffee on your porch, it sets a tone of how you can start your day or how to neutralize a hectic day with a glass of wine in the evening.
Just a few years ago, working from home in your own backyard was unfathomable. While the work-from-home trend thrives, homeowners transform the outdoor space into an oasis with pools, patios, plants, and greenery. A fire pit, hammock, outdoor pizza oven in addition to outdoor grill are popular items in today’s backyard. Outdoor lighting, Bluetooth speakers, and even projectors are also considered a ‘ must-have.’
Many of these improvements will enhance the home value, the best return on investment is not necessarily the items that bring you ‘joy’ like a new pool. Basic lawn care and landscaping will give you the best recovery of investment. However, a home is a place where memories are made. Holiday BBQs with friends and family, and outdoor birthday parties for the kids, in my opinion, these moments are priceless. They are the best returns of all time.
